TO BE KEPT IN MEMORY

Peace.

That’s what everyone is hoping to have, whether world peace, peace in the family, or even inner peace. Peace is what everyone wishes for, what everyone will fight for, what everyone fought for, specifically what soldiers fought for during war. War. War is something no one wishes for; it is something that no one would like to experience or be a part of. Because absolutely no one is ready for any war. Unfortunately, whether ready or not, people during the time of war had no choice but to fight for their country.  A lot have killed, a lot have survived, and another lot have sadly died, unable to see another day. Which is why holidays were made in honor of the fallen heroes.

One of these said holidays is called “Day of Valor” or more well-known as “Araw ng Kagitinagn”. In the Philippines, Araw ng Kagitingan is a non-working holiday that takes place on or around April 9, where in World War II veterans’ parade in various places around the country, and what is considered to be the highlight of the holiday takes place at Mt. Samat where the president delivers a speech to commemorate the heroism of Filipino and American troops during World War II.

With that said, we should always keep the sacrifices and heroism of those who fought for their country in our memory, for things now may not be the same if no one had fought back.
